I am happy to note that Networking Resource Centre (NRCBS) in Biological Sciences under the auspices of University Grants Commission, New Delhi is functioning with State of-the-art facilities at Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. University Grants Commission has rightly chosen School of Biological Sciences at Madurai Kamaraj University because of the availability of interdisciplinary faculty with expertise in modern and traditional sciences. I am sure the NRCBS will definitely accomplish the objectives of the Centre through collaborative research and training workshop for the research scholars, young faculty members, scientists of other universities, colleges and institutions.

      The participants of the Workshops conducted at NRCBS are exposed to advanced level techniques in all aspects of their research areas and motivated to take up future collaborative projects under the visiting fellowships Programme. Also, I note with enthusiasm that so far, the centre has organized 23 summer/winter schools, two "On Site" Workshops and the selected participants from all over India experienced hands on training. The interactive sessions with the resource persons drawn from reputed institutes from leading national laboratories and Universities would motivate the participants.

      I am sure that the centre will bring together young researchers and academicians to discuss the latest developments and trends in the field of Biological Sciences. I wish the NRCBS team and faculty of School of Biological Sciences, MKU all success.
